Midweek Meetup: Week of October 31
Verse of the Day~
The Lord is the strength of his people,
a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.
Save your people and bless your inheritance;
be their shepherd and carry them forever. (Psalm 28:8-9)
Jesus, we pray for ourselves, that we will have the humility to honor the political perspectives of others, even when we disagree with them. Amen. (From “31 Days of Prayer: 2024 Election Prayer Guide,” October 30)
Meeting Jesus ~ Our November worship series is “Cultivating Community” with a focus on Hospitality from Luke 14:7-14 and Romans 12:9-13. We’ll hear special music from Kate Pruyn, celebrate our Service of Remembrance as we honor those saints who’ve gone before us, and gather at the Lord’s Table.
Meeting Friends ~ Yesterday, we concluded our fall Junction Kids with a grand celebration. Thanks be to God for the 20 (or so) kids and their families who gathered every Wednesday to learn about Joseph, his groovy technicolor dreamcoat, and the truth that God brings goodness out of every bad thing.
Sharing Hope ~ One more time (and–we hope–the last): we continue to ask for your help replenishing the Deacons Fund. After several larger gifts to families in the community, we have less than $100 in the fund. Please give generously as you are able!
A final note: For this last Midweek Meetup before our fall Election, we remind you of the church’s faith commitment and prayer guide (https://firstchurchlajunta.org/faith-principles-during-the-election-year). In all things and especially this election, to God be the glory.
