Midweek Meetup: Week of November 13

Nov 13, 2024

Verse of the Day~

Jesus read,

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me,

  because he has anointed me

to proclaim good news to the poor.

He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners

and recovery of sight for the blind,

to set the oppressed free,

to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

(Luke 4:18-19, from Isaiah 61:1,2 and 58:6)

Prayer~

Jesus, Your good news is for all people, everywhere. Help us have the kind of Kingdom vision that allows us to see beyond our own needs and live in ways that bless all people. Amen.

Meeting Jesus ~ Every year, we share Jesus with the children of incarcerated parents through our Angel Tree ministry. We shop for gifts (a toy and a piece of clothing) that are given to the kids on behalf of the parents, along with a Bible or Bible story and our prayers. The Angel Tree goes up this Sunday, November 17, in the sanctuary foyer, so please be sure to grab a tag with a child’s name and size or interest.

Meeting Friends ~ We welcome many outside groups to use our church free of charge or for a small fee. We’re sharing God’s gift of this space with our community. A big part of that hospitality is making sure that the rooms are clean. Please be sure to wipe down counters and tables, sweep, and take out the trash as needed, so the next group will be most welcome.

Sharing Hope ~ Becci Lease will help us dedicate our Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes this Sunday, November 17, in worship. Please bring your shoeboxes with you if you filled one or two at home.

A special note on Advent and Christmas ~ Check out the church’s website for worship, small group, and private opportunities to grow closer to Jesus during the seasons of Advent and Christmas. Advent begins Sunday, December 1.
