Midweek Meetup: Week of January 15
Verse of the Day~
“Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy, your body also is full of darkness. See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness.” (Luke 11:34-35)
Prayer~
Jesus, Open my eyes, so Your light can fill me. Let that light shine back into the world, so that the people I meet today can see You in me. Amen.
Meeting Jesus ~ Our particular focus as we begin 2025 is prayer. In Sunday worship at 10 a.m., join us for “Pray at Your Own Risk,” as we’re invited to imagine how we will be changed when we pray the dangerous prayers of lament, submission, confession, and thanksgiving. This week, we begin with the prayer of lament from Jonah 4, with music from Steve Elwood. Come early at 9 a.m. for a study of the Lord’s Prayer, led by Tom Aldea and Pastor MJ in the Cranson Room.
Meeting Friends ~ The ELEVATE youth groups will meet at City Park (weather permitting) on Saturday, January 25, from 2-4 p.m. for a big game of Lawn Golf. Bring a friend!
Sharing Hope ~ With bitter cold approaching, Otero County is opening another warming shelter, this time in Rocky Ford at the Fairgrounds. The shelter will be open Saturday, January 18th at noon until Wednesday, January 22nd at noon for unhoused neighbors or neighbors without heat in their homes. The warming shelter needs 2 men and 2 women at all times through Friday. They will also need help transporting individuals to and from the shelter. If you can take a shift, please contact Pastor MJ at 719-469-7717 so she can get you in touch with the scheduler.
