Midweek Meetup: Week of May 28
Verse of the Day~
Josiah removed all the detestable idols from all the territory belonging to the Israelites, and he had all who were present in Israel serve the Lord their God. As long as he lived, they did not fail to follow the Lord, the God of their ancestors. (2 Chronicles 34:33)
Prayer~
Jesus, there are too many things in our lives that we trust more than You: our work, our talents, our government, even ourselves. We trust these idols to save us, when only You save. Give us wisdom and courage to put You first and let the rest follow. In Your name. Amen.
Meeting Jesus ~
Summer Mixtape is our summer worship series, as we spend these next 12 weeks listening in on Paul and the other early church leaders as they wrote to the churches throughout the Mediterranean. We “press play” this Sunday, June 1, with Paul’s Letter to the Galatians and his teaching on freedom. Worship will include a celebration of the Lord’s Supper and special music from Katie Pruyn. Meeting Friends ~
For decades, we’ve sent our young people (rising 3rd-8th, plus high school aged interns) to the Presbytery of Pueblo Summer Camp and this year is no exception. We’ll offer them a fun send-off with our traditional water balloon fight after worship this Sunday.
Sharing Hope ~
Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-Centered, 12 Step recovery program for anyone struggling with addictions and habits of all kinds. CR meets every Friday at 5:30 p.m. at the Victorious Church (next to Hanagan’s in Swink) for dinner and meeting. Everyone is welcome.
Special Announcement: Our church secretary, Makayla Goodwin submitted her resignation this week. We’re sad but understanding of how stressful life can be as the mother of two very young children. With Pastor MJ leaving soon for vacation, there is not enough time to hire and train a new person, so Gwynn Root has graciously offered to come back as our Interim Secretary through the end of June. We’ll begin a search in July. Thank you, Gwynn!
