Midweek Meetup: Week of July 11

Jul 11, 2024

Verse of the Day: “My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Colossians 2:2-3)

Jesus, Help me today to live according to Your rhythms of prayer, scripture, and service. As I live according to Your rhythms, guide me to pay attention to what matters most, and, in paying attention, grow more and more into the person You created me to be. Amen.

Meeting Jesus ~ Jesus doesn’t make it easy on us. This week’s scripture in our Summer on the Mount series? “Love your enemies” (Matthew 5:43). Join us in worship to sort out what that means for you. An added bonus is special music from none other than Lacy Kay Book.

Meeting Friends ~ Tables is our ministry of food and friendship, as groups of -8 adults meet monthly to read scripture, pray, and do life together. We took a year off last year on account of busy schedules, but we’ll return in September with a focus this year on Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians. Watch for more info to come in August.

Sharing Hope ~ Some years ago, we had a very active Stephen Ministry group. Stephen Ministers were available for one-on-one spiritual support for anyone in the church and community who requested it. The ministry season passed, but Peggy Klinkerman kept us stocked with a series of grief books that many people have found helpful. Peggy rests with God now, but we still have several sets of the grief books available to anyone who might benefit. See Pastor MJ.

A special thanks: We want the church to look as good as possible for our SCUBA Vacation Bible School. Greg, Kenny, and Brandon have already volunteered to fix the fence around the playground. Angel has offered to haul off the remains of the volleyball net. Anyone else who’d like to pull weeds or pick up trash around the property–thank you in advance!
