Midweek Meetup: Week of July 3

Jul 3, 2024

Verse of the Day: “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1

Father God, as we celebrate our nation’s independence, we pray that we will treasure our freedom in Christ even more–freedom from sin, freedom from our pasts, freedom from death. Only in Your Son are we truly set free.  We pray in His name, Amen.

Meeting Jesus ~  Jesus is speaking, and we’re still listening as our Sermon on the Mount series continues this Sunday with Pastor MJ preaching on Matthew 5:33-42 (the forbidding of oaths and turning the other cheek). We’ll conclude with a celebration of the Lord’s Supper, and a fellowship time will follow. If you’re unable to join us in worship, please contact the Church Office or Pastor MJ directly to request home communion on Sunday afternoon.

Meeting Friends ~ Our SCUBA Vacation Bible School preparations continue. We’re so excited to welcome kids from our community.  The catch?  All the work is for nothing if we don’t reach out to families and encourage them to bring their kids. Please invite the children of friends, neighbors, family, or co-workers. Take a flyer or two to post in town.  We’re all in this together for Jesus.  Register on the website at www.firstchurchlajunta.org.

Sharing Hope ~ The summer months have brought several month larger requests to the Deacons Fund, so we are running lower than we like. We gratefully receive gifts to the Deacons Fund (by check or online) year round so that we can support one another and our community in times of financial distress.

A special note:  Blessings & congratulations to Lexi and Mitchell Klempan on the birth of their son Colter Rains, born this morning, July 3.  We give thanks to God celebrate with the extended Klempan, Hight, and Aldea families on Colter’s healthy arrival.
