5 Things to Know This Week @ First Pres

1 What’s next?

Beginning on Monday, our state moves from shelter-in-place to safer-at-home. What does that mean for us? First, our worship will continue online through May. On Pentecost Sunday, May 31, we’re hoping to host a drive-in church service. Into June and July, as we will likely need to keep our gatherings under 50 people, we’re looking at offering two services (see below). While we long to be gathered as a whole church, the Worship Team is excited at some new opportunities this situation opens up for us. Keep the team in your prayers for wisdom and imagination in the weeks and months to come.

2 Speaking of summer

Our Sunday morning gathering, for now, is happening online, but we anticipate being able to gather again, possibly as soon as 6-8 weeks, in groups of 50 or less while holding to all the recommended social distancing practices (see https://www.whitehouse.gov/openingamerica/). With our average worship attendance of 90-100, this means moving to 2 services. We’ve created a very short online survey to help us understand how best to carry out this plan. Please go to https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/QSJPQ28 at your earliest convenience to give us your feedback.

3 C3

Called to faith. Called to community. Called to serve Tune in on Sunday mornings to the church website at www.firstchurchlajunta.org to experience this fun and uplifting worship series as we learn together what it means to be a household of faith.

4 MOPS

We will be starting MOPS unconventionally using Zoom. We will be meeting online at 8:30pm on Fridays starting this week and we will adjust as we see fit to make it easier in this time of adjustment. We will do our best to keep you informed as we make decisions with you in mind.

4 Youth

CTW High School Fellowship will resume meeting on Monday nights at 7 p.m. Our group is small, and all appropriate precautions and safety distancing will be observed, so we’re hopeful that this will be a fun weekly opportunity for the youth to gather as we work our way through Alpha Youth

5 And finally prayers…

For the family of Leonard Vance (for those who have asked, the Bradfields’ address is 1407 Maple, La Junta, 81050)...for Mike Miller, with hopes for a transition home in the days to come...for Brad Jones, recovering from surgery...for teachers, students, parents, administrators, and school staffs navigating online school...for Cathy Lease’s daughter in law Tammy recovering from surgery...and for the family and friends of Dr. Chope Archuleta.
