Mid Week Messenger July 18
5 Things to Know This Week @ First Pres
1 Picnic & Pool Party
Don’t miss our annual Church Picnic and Pool Party this Sunday, July 22. Picnic @ Potter Park @ 5:30 p.m., with swimming @ 6:30 p.m. at the Wipe Out. Please bring a dish to share, plus your own place settings.
2 Heading to Denver
Explorer Club heads to Denver on Friday, August 24, to see the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit (and more!) at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Everyone is invited to join us! Admission to the museum is free. Explorer Club kids see the Scrolls for free; all others pay just $5. Let us know you're joining us by replying here or signing up on Sunday morning. Note: We have a group reservation for the 10:00 a.m. entry to the Scrolls exhibit. Join us on Friday morning, or add extra fun by driving up with the kids on Thursday night for a campout at Corona Presbyterian Church.
3 Incredible Faith Kick Off
Incredible Faith is the theme of our brand new Friday Bible School (FBS), happening every first Friday of the month from 9 a.m. to 12 noon here at the church, beginning on Friday, September 7. It’s free for kids aged Kindergarten through 6th grade, and everyone is welcome. Registration online at https://form.jotform.com/81874654454164. We’ll have a kick off event on Friday, August 3, from 11 to 1 p.m., when we’ll meet Mr. Incredible himself and enjoy a community BBQ. (This is a change from the original plans for the kick off. We’re getting information updated as we’re able.)
4 How many glasses a day?
Our theme in worship this Sunday is “Hydrate,” as Moses brings water from rock in Numbers 20:1-13. We’ll be commissioning our Youth Missionaries and their Adult Chaperones before they head out to Del Norte for their annual mission trip. Please keep Elisabeth, Karl, Stephanie, Alyssa, Justin, Kelli, Caitlyn, Jose, and Weston—along with MJ, Sarah, Hayden, Chris, and Micheal—in your prayers for a great, faith-building week.
5 Speaking of youth missions
Our youth have an amazing experience planned for the summer of 2019, when they’d love to head to Chicago in mission, July 6-13. Before we even make our reservations, though, we must have the commitment of four adult chaperones (two men, two women) who are fully prepared to take the time from work, participate in the fundraiser, and make the commitment (barring illness or death, of course) to the youth. If you are such a person who can make this commitment, please see Pastor MJ or any member of the Youth Ministry Team, aka Lisa, Kristin, Elly, Sarah, or Lindy.
