5 Things to Know This Week @ First Pres

1 I Once Was Lost

Our new worship series kicks off this Sunday. “I Once Was Lost” is based on the book of the same title, and we’ll describe the “five thresholds” of faith: trusting a Christian, becoming curious, opening up to change, seeking after God, and entering the kingdom. We'll have copies of the book available for a minimal offering. This week, we begin with "Threshold One: Trusting a Christian,” with scripture from John 4:1-27 and Hebrews 4:14-16. The Chancel Choir will sing one of its favorite songs.

Don't come if you don't want to have most (maybe all) of your assumptions about the path to faith challenged. Really.

2 Sunday School kicks off!

Kids (K-5th grade) begin a new unit, “Jesus’ Awesome Power.” They’ll learn how Jesus changed water into wine, calmed the storm, fed the five thousand, and restored Jairus’ daughter to life. What can our families accomplish with Jesus’ power? Preschoolers will stay in the nursery and learn “God Loves Me”. The 6th & 7th graders will continue their Bible survey course in preparation for next year’s confirmation program.

3 Finding Jesus in the Old Testament

A new class, led by Pastor MJ, begins this Sunday in the Cranson Room. Join us!

4 A quick congregational meeting

Stay after worship on Sunday, January 21, for a quick congregational meeting to elect Jeanne Brittain to fill a vacancy on this year’s Session.

5 A celebration

Finally, join us for our annual congregational meeting on Sunday, January 28. This year’s meeting will happen just after Sunday school at 11:45, and we’ll be feeding you a fabulous lasagna dinner as we celebrate all that God has done in our midst over the last 12 months. Don’t miss this fete!
